CADET PROGRAMS
Young people have been serving their communities as
CAP cadets since 1942. In the early years cadet
membership was limited to teens aged 15-17 who,
except for thier age, could meet all requirements
necessary for beginning military service. Men
sponsored boys and women sponsored girls in the
CAP Cadet Program.
In 1964 CAP developed a new curriculum and a new
program for its cadets. Young people from the ages
of 12 to 21 could be part of the new Cadet Program.
It would be a more structured Cadet Program, with
cadets progressing through five main elements:
activities, leadership, aerospace education, physical
fitness, and moral leadership.
Cadets have an opportunity to participate in
Aerospace programs from the local unit level all the
way up to International Cadet Exchange programs.
